Audrey Walters – Co-Creator & Instructor
As a professional SAG/AFTRA Actress, TV host and former news reporter, Audrey has spent several years entertaining audiences and doing on camera work. She worked for 6 years as a Media Coach at a children’s talent agency. Audrey has a passion for providing amazing experiences to children in a variety of economic and social situations; helping them find their own unique voice and on camera personalities. Audrey shares her love of kids, knowledge of the entertainment industry and her years of experience as a working actor to mentor kids with the acting bug! Jenny Gilbert – Co-Creator & Instructor
A Buckley School of Public Speaking certified coach and public educator with several years experience, Jenny loves to teach. Working with dedicated professionals on perfecting public speaking techniques and communication skills in the private and corporate sectors was fulfilling for years. However, Jenny’s love of kids brought her back to public schools to share her strengths in helping children communicate with confidence and poise. Jenny’s work has been making a difference in kids lives for several years, while exploring unique ways of teaching and learning to kids in a variety of situations. This mom of 2 graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Arts and English Writing from University of Colorado and holds a Masters Degree in Education from Regis University in Denver.
Ashley Poole – Instructor & Administrator
Ashley was born in Memphis, Tennessee and grew up in Colorado. She has worked as talent in the entertainment industry for 24 years. Her experience and training spans all parts of the industry, including the agent and casting side. She began her career in LA, modeling and acting in the early 90’s. Her career continued in Colorado, hosting a live national game show for two years. Following the show, she pursued training for film and television, and has since booked 7 national commercial campaigns. Last year she landed a role in a Netflix original film, Amateur, and a local indie film, American Bystander. She’s excited to move into new markets to continue bringing her dreams to life. Ashley’s passion for entertaining is inspiring, and she loves to help people follow their heart. She is mother to one daughter, a senior at Florida State University. Ashley says her daughter has been her greatest teacher. She loves watching children learn to believe in themselves and as a result, create the life of their dreams!
Raymond Scott – Instructor
Raymond Scott is a dynamic instructor that teaches kindness in everything. He loves theater, art and dining out. He holds a degree in Dance from Missouri State University and has been helping kids find their unique voice since 2001. He has danced, sang and acted professionally. Raymond also takes his talent to canvas. He is an award-winning painter that gives back to the community helping LGBT youth. On the weekends you can find him snuggling with his dog, Flynn.
Sammi Steele – Instructor
Sammi Steele, a native from Golden, Colorado, graduated from Lakewood High School in May 2015. She “grew up” on stage singing in the Colorado Children’s Chorale and doing local theatre throughout the Denver Metro area. This fall, Sammi will be a junior at the University of Oklahoma where she’s studying broadcast journalism and minoring in enterprise studies. When she’s not busy maintaining her 4.0 GPA, she’s participating in the Scandals or U-Sing shows with her sorority (Theta), giving tours as a Gaylord Ambassador for alumni and perspective students visiting Gaylord College of Journalism and Strategic Communication, or she’s anchoring the news/sports for OU Nightly (OU’s daily broadcast). In March, she was able to anchor alongside Al Rocker, on the Today Show for the 2017 Rockerthon. This summer, Sammi was nominated for a Heartland Emmy Award for her reporting on OU Nightly’s 2016 Election Special.
Danett Hernandez – New Mexico Administrator & Instructor
Danett Hernandez is an actor, dancer, choreographer, daughter, sister, wife, and the mother of two beautiful boys. Danett was born and raised in Denver, CO where she studied Drama and Voice Over at The Denver Center for the Performing Arts. There she met her acting coach, Benjy Dobrin, whom she studied with for the better part of six years. She also studied and danced Ballet, Jazz, and Hip Hop at the Imperial Academy of Dance and at The Shelly True Dance Academy. Some of her performances include Swan Lake and Le Bayadère. In April of 2015 Danett and her family moved to Albuquerque to further her and her husbands acting careers in the TV and Film industries. Danett’s acting credits include lead roles in original plays such as Enrique’s Journey and Mestizo. She can also be seen in local Colorado PSA movies, Crossroads and Encrucijada, as well as local and national commercials. Before moving to Albuquerque, Danett was an ensemble member and a drama and dance teacher with Su Teatro. During here time there she learned how rewarding it can be to be able to teach our younger generations how to use art to express themselves.
Rebie Bautista Lash – Marketing & PR Director
Rebie brings nearly fifteen years of marketing and PR experience to Talk to the Camera having worked in the travel and luxury lifestyle public relations field working with top PR firms nationally and internationally. She is responsible for managing all marketing and PR efforts. In this capacity she is focused on bringing Talk to the Camera’s programs to Colorado communities, new business development, partnerships, advertising, promotion, events, social media and getting the word out to the media. She is also an actor and has worked on several commercials and independent films.
Kaitlin Kunkler – Instructor
Kaitlin, originally from Chicago, has worked in both broadcast television and film production. She recently graduated with her Master’s degree from the Media, Film & Journalism program at the University of Denver. With a passion for telling a compelling story, Kaitlin has traveled around North America filming polar bears in Manitoba and dolphins in Florida, assisted in ski film post-production with Teton Gravity Research in Jackson Hole and in Boulder with Warren Miller Entertainment. She also has experience in local broadcasting here in Colorado, where she has lived for over a decade, having directed the live broadcasts of local government meetings in Pitkin County and the Colorado State Senate and House of Representatives. Coming from a huge family and the oldest of 42 first cousins, Kaitlin loves kids and is excited to share her passion for video with students through Talk to the Camera.
Sue Ann Staake-Wayne – Instructor
Sue Ann is a veteran broadcast Producer/Director and new resident of Morrison, CO. In her former Washington, DC base, she created her company, SAS Productions, Inc. worked for the major networks, taught in The American University’s Communications Department, and has earned both local and national Emmy® Awards. Sue Ann is a member of the Directors Guild of America (DGA) and has a lifetime membership in the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) for three decades of leadership and service. Since moving to Morrison, she has embarked on a second career as an actor and has performed for the Evergreen Players. She is excited to resume teaching and nurturing the next generation of talented broadcasting story-tellers.
Kathi Baerns – Instructor
Kathi is an actress, director and voice-over artist , starting her career at the age of 4, appearing in a production of “The King and I”. She has appeared locally on stage for several theatre companies and has film, TV, internet and commercials credits. She was an on-air radio host for over 25 years on both music and talk formats. Kathi has taught and directed children and adults in theatre and looks forward expanding her teaching to film and sharing with a new generation her love of the arts. Her greatest joy, when not performing, is spending time with her 5 beautiful and talented grandchildren.
Annette Schowers – Instructor
Annette Schowers is a mother, wife, teacher and producer. She has worked in photo, video and film production for over 15 years in many states throughout North America, including NYC, Miami and San Diego. More recently, she has worked as a Paraprofessional in both Special Education and Early Childhood Education. She is also a licensed substitute teacher for grades K-12. Hailing from Albuquerque, New Mexico and growing up in Denver, Colorado, Annette received her undergraduate degree in Fashion Merchandising from Colorado State University and her Masters degree with a concentration in International Business in London. After completing her program, she moved to New York City, where Annette’s interest in photography developed after landing her first industry job as a studio manager.
Her passion for the business was furthered by her next position as an artist representative for hair stylists, makeup artists, and prop and fashion stylists at talent agency Mark Edward Inc. Annette’s ever-increasing knowledge of the business enabled her to take on the role of photo rep after Edward’s death, allowing her to build the photography division at the agency and become involved in all aspects of photo shoot production.
Having collaborated with top talent throughout the country and with over a decade of work to her credit, it is this in-depth expertise that Annette brings with her back to Denver. Her positions as an agent, photographer rep, art buyer and now freelance producer have given her a thorough understanding – complexities and all – of print catalogue, editorial and advertising production.
Ted Maritz – Instructor
Ted Maritz was born and raised in St. Louis Missouri before moving to Colorado to study Aerospace Engineering at CU Boulder. After graduating in 2013, Ted went on to work for Raytheon and Lockheed Martin. While at Raytheon, he worked on a future Global Positioning Satellite program. At Lockheed Martin, Ted worked as a test engineer on the OSIRIS-Rex Asteroid Sample Retrieval spacecraft and the InSight Mars Lander. During his time working in the aerospace industry, Ted began to study acting at Front Range Acting Studio. It was there that he discovered his passion for acting and began to steadily transfer into a career as a television and film actor. Today, Ted Maritz is an actor on shows such as Better Call Saul, Scorpion, and The Night Shift as well as several Netflix original movies. He has experience teaching math and science to middle school students and loves working with children.
