Sammi Steele, a native from Golden, Colorado, graduated from Lakewood High School in May 2015. She “grew up” on stage singing in the Colorado Children’s Chorale and doing local theatre throughout the Denver Metro area. This fall, Sammi will be a junior at the University of Oklahoma where she’s studying broadcast journalism and minoring in enterprise studies. When she’s not busy maintaining her 4.0 GPA, she’s participating in the Scandals or U-Sing shows with her sorority (Theta), giving tours as a Gaylord Ambassador for alumni and perspective students visiting Gaylord College of Journalism and Strategic Communication, or she’s anchoring the news/sports for OU Nightly (OU’s daily broadcast). In March, she was able to anchor alongside Al Rocker, on the Today Show for the 2017 Rockerthon. This summer, Sammi was nominated for a Heartland Emmy Award for her reporting on OU Nightly’s 2016 Election Special.
